Tracy has over 30 years’ experience in the occupational safety & health field. Tracy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health and maintains several certifications, including being a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Safety & Heath Trainer (CET), Safety and Management Systems Auditor (CPEA), and Certified Safety Executive (WSO-CSE).

In 2003, Tracy was named Safety Professional of the Year by the American Society of Safety Engineers Hawaii Chapter and received a Letter of Commendation from Governor Lingle for being a named one of the Pacific Business News Top 40 Under Forty business professionals in the State of Hawaii. In 2010, Tracy was recognized as the Honor Alumni of the Honolulu Community College Occupational Environmental Safety and Health Program. In 2015, Tracy was a finalist for the PBN Women Who Mean Business Award and recipient of the PBN Small Business Leadership Hawaii Award. Tracy is a 2018 graduate of the Honolulu Small Business Administration Emerging Leaders Program and 2019 Small Business Administration Person of the Year for the County of Honolulu.

Tracy’s safety experience ranges from being a U.S. Army Military Police Corps Traffic Accident Investigator, a construction small business Safety Director, a Vice President of a national general contractor and a business owner. During her tenure at Dick Pacific Construction, her safety program led the company to be recognized as one of America’s 17 Safest Companies in the October 2002 Occupational Hazards Magazine, recipient of the 2001 Associated General Contractors of America National Construction Safety Excellence Grand Award and First Place in Building for 500,000 + man-hours and the 2000 U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Worldwide Contractor of the Year.

Since 2005, Tracy has been a staff instructor for the OSHA Training Institute Hawaii Extension through the University of California San Diego where she is authorized to teach a variety of construction and general industry courses.

In 2009, Tracy opened Lawson & Associates, a woman, veteran owned, State of Hawaii DOT disadvantaged business enterprise specializing in safety and health consulting. Lawson & Associates is the largest occupational safety and health consulting firm in the State of Hawaii with an average of 15 full-time, experienced, certified and degreed local safety consultants who specialize in assisting small, medium and large businesses achieve efficiency in operations through a well managed safety and risk program. Since 2010, Tracy and her firm have been serving as the Safety and Security Support Services Consultant to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) on the $8 billion-dollar Honolulu Rapid Transit project.

Mr. Diaz has over 20 years of occupational safety and health management experience. He has overseen the development and implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems. Joaquin is responsible for the professional development, mentoring, and training of Safety Professionals in and out of his organization.

Joaquin is skilled at developing and implementing practical solutions for complex problem and is recognized for his ability to achieve positive results through teamwork and effective leadership. With excellent communication and negotiation skills, “hands-on” field safety experience and an understanding of the construction process, Joaquin plays an important role for both preconstruction and construction teams to identify and prevent or mitigate potential safety issues. Joaquin’s work experience includes 15 years in a leadership position for two top 150 ENR contractors, with 11 years for Hawaii’s largest general contractor. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.

He has two bachelor’s degrees from different universities and a masters in management. He continues to pursue the highest level of credentials and education. He has the CSP, CHST, OHST credentials.

Joaquin is currently serving as a board member on the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He is honored to serve on a board offering oversight of an organization with 48,000 plus credential holders. He was past chair of the Hoisting Machine Operators Advisory Board after being nominated by two separate governors and serving for three governors. He was past president of the Hawaii ASSE chapter, past president of the Hawaii AIHA chapter, and active member of the national AGC Safety and Health committees

Meet the Instructors 

Lawson & Associates, and Industrial Training International (ITI), have reached an agreement to partner by offering ITI Courses at BIA's state-of-the-art Construction Training Center (CTC) of the Pacific in Waipahu, Hawaii.

Jason got his start in safety in 2003, where he attended Los Angeles Valley College for Fire Science and Technology.  He acquired knowledge in both fire prevention and firefighting, as well as obtaining his certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate.  In 2004, Jason became the Operations Manager for Ready America and Quakehold Industrial, one of the largest seismic and disaster preparedness organizations in America.  Overseeing projects throughout the West coast and working with engineers, Jason helped to develop and manage the installation of some of the most effective restraint systems in use today to protect employees and non-structural property.  In 2009, Jason accepted a position to consult, train, and provide safety product sales and service to several large companies in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Jason joined Lawson and Associates in January 2018 where he has had the opportunity to elevate his knowledge and expertise.  He continues to work with Hawaii companies to improve their safety programs and culture, as well as providing training to workers from awareness to competent person level on many topics for the leading safety consulting firm in the state.

As a current student of the Occupational and Environmental Safety Management program at Honolulu Community College, Jason was elected and served as President of the American Society of Safety Engineers Hawaii Student Section for the 2017-2018 school year.  Jason maintains being Board Certified as a Construction Health and Safety Technician, as well as being an Authorized Instructor by the United States Department of Labor for teaching the OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses for both Construction and General Industries, through the University of California, San Diego Extension Program.  Jason also maintains both instructor and instructor trainer status for CPR, First Aid, and Basic Life Support through the American Safety and Health Institute.  He is currently working toward obtaining his Construction Risk Insurance Specialist credential.
